About Paris City Breaks

Paris attracts millions of visitors each year, due to its magnificent history and culture, beautiful language, undulating cityscape, and world-renowned food and drink. Summers are comfortably warm, and although the winter can be a little chilly, the cold is rarely unbearable. Paris is the perfect year-round destination, situated on the river Seine in the north of France. It wows sightseers with its exquisite architecture and illustrious tourist attractions.

Paris City Break - River Seine

Or perhaps you are looking to introduce a bit of romance in a relationship? Do you feel the need to get away for a short break to escape the mundane nine to five? If so, why not consider a dreamy weekend away to Paris, one of the world’s most romantic cities. Oui, oui, monsieur!

Getting to Paris

Due to its popularity, Paris is enormously easy to get to. Flights into Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport are frequent and can be cheap if you shop around.

However, by far the easiest and most comfortable option is to travel by rail. Eurostar trains run frequently from one of London’s most central stations at St Pancras International, and takes just over two hours. You'll arrive refreshed and relaxed right in the centre of Paris at Gare du Nord, where you can jump in a taxi or on the Metro to get to your hotel, or if you don't have too much luggage, you could even start your sight seeing right there and then. Why waste time! Not only is Paris easy to get to, it’s also effortless to get around once you’re there, so why not start planning your trip today?

Perhaps you may think a weekend city break in Paris would be too short to spend in such a popular capital city. But if you can't afford more time to spend in this great city, you needn't worry. There's still lots to enjoy and navigation around Paris is so easy that it’s surprising how much you can actually get to see in such a short space of time. The city is split into twenty different districts (called arrondissements), all of which can be reached easily be Paris’ extensive but easy-to-use underground train system (the Metro).

Depending on the location of your hotel, you might find it easier to skip the Metro and use your legs instead. Paris is full of hidden back streets containing concealed architectural gems and undiscovered bistros. If you’re fit and healthy, take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Metro and rely on your feet to be your guide. Going off the beaten track, if you have the time and the stamina, tends to provide you with a richer Parisian experience.

Food and Drink in Paris

Paris is famous for its fantastic array of food and drink. You won’t go hungry! There are hundreds of restaurants, bistros, and cafes, from cheap and cheerful venues to high-class places to flash your cash. The Latin Quarter is the most popular food district. Just have a wander and see what takes your fancy. There’s something for everyone; plenty of fantastic meat and fish dishes, cheeses and wines, and bonbons and pastries. But vegetarians beware: French cuisine can be unkind to the animal lovers!

Paris Hotels

Accommodation during your stay depends entirely on your budget. There are plenty of cheaper hotels but they do tend to be quite far out or in less "romantic" areas of the city. Mid-range hotels tend to be dotted around the outskirts of the city, but some can be found in more central areas, such as Le Marais. Pricier and fancier hotel options are located in the centre of town, especially the established tourist areas near the Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysee, or Montmatre.
