About Bordeaux

If you are a lover of wine, then Bordeaux is definitely the place for you. The city is famed for its beautiful bouquets. If you're having meat for lunch, grab one of the local Cabernet Sauvignons or Merlots. Or if fish is the dish of the day, have a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Just out of Bordeaux is a little town called Médoc where the grape vines grow and ripen. Here, you'll be able to sample some excellent types of wine.

Bordeaux is also the place to visit if you are a food lover. Moments away from the Atlantic, Bordeaux is famed for its excellent selection of fresh fish. In many restaurants, you'll find oysters and lobster on the menu, as well as the catch of the day. There are also some classic French dishes to be had, such as Aquitaine beef and Pauillac lamb.

And if it's romance you're after, look no further! Bordeaux in the evening is a stunning sight. Take a slow stroll along the Garonne River with your beau. The twinkling lights from the bistros and bars that line the banks are striking. Night-time activities can range from a relaxed dinner for two, a night at the opera at the Grand-Théâtre, or clubbing in one of the local floating clubs or converted warehouses.

And during the day, there are plenty of things to see and do. St-Pierre's streets are a veritable rabbit warren of examples of neo-classical architecture. Or you can stroll along the rue Notre-Dame and go on an antique hunt.
